Cooking up
learning cultures

A service brought to you by the team at Hungry Minds.

If you're an L&D professional keen to access support to build a stunning learning and development culture, then hey, guess what? You're in the right place!

Hold on tight. The fun is about to ramp up.

Hungry Minds Lean Into Learning

Two minds are
better than one

Learning, at its best, is all about motivating people to grow and adopt new behaviours; no easy feat in the workplace. When the task is tough, two minds are always better than one. Our team know this stuff. We live and breath behaviour change through learning. Why not partner with us and leverage our expertise?

Rapid development is key to success

Let's face it, workplaces move at a breakneck speed, and the L&D teams need to keep up. How often have you heard the term, "We needed this yesterday"? Our tools and templates can be the answer to this urgency.

Don't start from scratch, leverage our resources.

The demands on an internal L&D department can mean you're stretched thin. You also get caught up in the competition for internal resources like design, marketing and tech support. What if you had a partner in your pocket that was working magic on your behalf? I mean, how good would that be!

We're in your corner, your secret superpower

We understand your world and we care

We don't just offer resources and expertise; we offer care, too. We will champion you, coach you, push you and and guide you to become the best L&D team you can be. You can vent to us, strategise with us, take a long cool drink of yummy motivation, and then head back out to wrestle another day. In short, we've got you.

Call them our siblings, our comrades, our alter egos – the Hungry Minds group consists of a range of specialised instructional design services.

Bec

Lab Founder & Head

of Learning Strategy

Bec Jeffrey leads the charge at the Lab. Bec has a rare kind of mind, perfect for strategy. She can grasp the big picture at supersonic speed while simultaneously drilling down into finer details to quickly identify the next steps.

It scares us regularly. Her years of experience as a social scientist and adult educator means her learning designs and understanding of people are exceptional. As a corporate consultant, she has worked with some of Australia’s most iconic brands to build exceptional learning cultures that have shifted behaviour.

Daniel

Senior Learning

Designer

Working as Robin to Bec's Batman is Daniel. For over two decades, Daniel has dedicated himself to not just educating but inspiring and engaging individuals at a deep level. He is passionate about the idea that it’s not about how much you can learn but about how much you care about learning. His motivation lies in coaching individuals to develop resilience and strength across the emotional, intellectual, and physical spectrums of their lives. In the realm of building better ways of doing things, Dan is a vital asset to the cause.

The Learning Lab is an affiliate of Hungry Minds meaning we're our own business, but we partner closely with Hungry Minds as one of their specialist offerings. Run primarily by the strategy gurus shown below, the Lab is supported by the wider pool of dedicated L&Ds spread across Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, and Brisbane. This structure allows us to be large enough to cater effectively to your needs yet small enough to provide this specialist service.

  • Strategy finds pattern amongst a stream of decisions to enable flow. We work with you to design and build a unified and effective learning strategy, that clarifies your learning culture.

  • Our human-centred designs cater to the whole person and drive motivation and change. The humans experience the learning are always kept front and centre.

  • We want to empower you to create great learning without being held hostage by reliance on an outside provider. We build and deliver simple-to-follow custom-branded templates and then teach you to use them so your internal people can craft great learning rapidly.

  • Many organisations rely on SharePoint pages to communicate knowledge or share resources. But not all SharePoint pages are equal. We know how to make them stunning and can set you with pages your people will love to explore.

  • If you are tired of overpriced Learning Management Systems that just frustrate your staff, or if you want to market your expertise to the outside world, then we can set you up with options that will save your business money and make learning sweet for your users.

  • Self-paced courses, resources and coaching offer interactive, flexible learning experiences that teach you how to become a learning guru at your workplace.

Learning Labs exists to help you shine. Our services are targeted at L&D managers and teams, to build and support your learning culture.

  • An organisational learning strategy is a detailed plan that organisations like yours use to develop an L&D culture. The plan maps out the cohorts that exist in your business, what their unique learning needs are and what strategies and methods of learning would most engage them and motivate them to learn and develop. Having a learning strategy means learning is not developed piecemeal, but rather is unified, on brand and in line with your organisation's vision and values. Also, our strategies are not just words on a page, they come with what we call a 'Learning Style Guide'; robust and development-ready learning templates designed to put lofty ideals into practical application.

  • Culture can most easily be described as the way people like us do things round here. An L&D culture therefore, is the way your organisation approaches learning. Are people rolling their eyes when asked to attend learning, or are they chomping at the bit, keen to dive in? Is learning developed in a systematic, learner-centric way that understands human-centred design, or is it a hodge-podge of PowerPoints and learning artefacts that people are constantly redeveloping because they're just not quite right?

Learning is the lifeblood of a business, and yet, all too often, it's neglected. Rather than pumping goodness through the organisation, it's clogging up arteries, causing the organisation to limp along. A strong L&D culture will inadvertently mean your business thrives.

  • We certainly can. To give you a glimpse of how we've tackled challenges like this in the past, we invite you to explore our case studies page. There, you'll find a collection of projects spanning various industries. We particularly invite you to look at the work we did with the Department of Justice in Victoria, and MMP in NSW. These were an excellent example of learning strategies that shifted culture.

  • Collaboration, collaboration and then some more collaboration. We can't provide you with a cookie-cutter approach in this instance. Culture, like identity, is a personal matter. No two businesses are the same.

However, we have developed some tried and true methods of collaborating that help us get to the key issues quickly. To read more about our process in full, CLICK HERE.

  • Part of the design of our process is that we work with you on the first few learning projects to road-test the approaches. As lovers of learning, we don't believe in one-and-done. It's through reiteration and review, curiosity and courage, tweaking a bit here and leveraging a bit there that the melding of art and science weave their magic to create the end product. If you work with us, you are partnering up for a journey where we stick with you till our work with you is done and you are functioning beautifully without us anymore.

  • Hungry Minds is a genuine partnership among learning design specialists. This service, that of cooking up learning cultures, is one of those specialities.

As a business who enjoys the privilege of living and working in this beautiful country, we pay respect to our First Nations Peoples and acknowledge their Elders, past and present.

At Hungry Minds, we had a lightbulb moment. Instead of only crafting exceptional learning for our clients, why not use our talents to help L&D gurus like you bloom right where you are; in your place of work? After all, your love of learning makes you a kindred spirit, and we like to hang out with the kindreds.

You see, in our years of doing the work, we've witnessed L&D teams like yours doin it tough. People lean on you to take their initiatives out to the masses. Learning is the lifeblood of the business, but it often gets a bad wrap, way too many eye-rolls and, sadly, way too little support. It's time to change all of that.

It's time for the learning nerds to rise up, and bring the fun back to learning cultures everywhere.  Huthum.. apology's, the anthem started playing and we got a little carried away. But I think you know what we mean. We are here to help. And how will we do this? One Hungry Mind bite at a time is how....

By using our infamous discovery process, we explore your organisation, the segments of your workforce, what their needs and why they should care about learning.

BITE ONE
We pop the hood

Next – we collaborate to craft your learning kit. A manifesto that outlines the approach you'll use, your cohorts and the methods of delivery they need and the way learning will look and feel moving forward.

BITE TWO
We get creative

Once you are happy with the direction we are taking we start to build out kit, filling it with all the tools and templates you will need to bring the ideas easily and rapidly to life.

BITE THREE
We build

This is where we take your new baby out for a spin and support you to apply the approach and templates in a project within your organisation.

BITE FOUR
We road test

Not just one and done, we refine and iterate.

Post-pilot tweaks are made, based on feedback.

BITE FIVE
We review and amend
